Let’s Get Social

The COVID-19 pandemic has inevitably changed the way we live, study, work and connect with each other on daily basis. Although we have all been doing our best to practice physical distancing, we believe more than ever that it is important to stay connected socially to support each other and our community.

JD McCormick Properties has launched an interactive initiative to remain engaged with our residents and community members while attempting to raise up to $5000 to help give back to our community.

Many of us want to help support each other but aren’t sure how or may feel overwhelmed at where to begin. We’ve got you covered and are hoping you consider joining us to help give back. It’s as simple as a follow and a like on social media. Anyone who gets “social” with us on this initiative will also be entered to win one of three $50 gift cards from 7 Iron Social!

We will go into that in more detail a little later in this blog on how you can get involved. First let’s talk about the great restaurants and causes we are looking forward to supporting.

We are excited to be partnering with 5 different local Madison restaurants who hold a special place in our hearts and are also doing great things in the community during COVID-19. We felt it was important to not only support our local restaurants who need our help during this difficult time but to partner with socially conscious restaurants who are trying to also help the community during this crisis.

Here is a little more information about the 5 restaurants we chose and why we they have a special place in our heart in the Madison community.

  1. Rockhound Brewing Company:

Nate, the owner of Rockhound Brewing Company, was not only one of our first commercial tenants but also the very first commercial lease signed when building The Dude Abodes Apartment building. He custom designed and built out Rockhound Brewing Co. with a concept of offering good food, good beer and good company to everyone who gathered there. We’ve loved watching the vision for his neighborhood pub and brewery come to fruition and grow over the years. We are thrilled to be working with him on this project not only to support his restaurant but to also give back to those in need of meals in our community.

Rockhound Brewing Company are currently offering beer crowlers and food orders to go. You can place an order online by going to their website. rockhoundbrewing.com

  1. Ian’s Pizza

Anyone who calls Madison home cannot call themselves an official Madisonian until they have had a slice of Ian’s Pizza. Okay…we’ll be honest, most of our staff have enjoyed many slices of Ian’s Pizza throughout our collegiate careers. Ian’s is a staple in this city and a comfort food we still love eating now whether it be at their locations on Frances or State Street or the new Garver Feed Mill location. Some of our staff have even taken the pizza making cooking classes over the years with Ian and his staff in an attempt to create their own version of his pizza at home. Yum!!

We’ve also been lucky enough to work with them on a variety of co-marketing projects over the years and have always admired their willingness and commitment to giving back to the community. The COVID-19 pandemic is no different and they are not only working to keep their restaurants open and staff employed but also are feeding healthcare, first responders and essential workers as well as many people in need in the community.

They are open and serving food during COVID-19. Please refer to their website for ordering and pick-up/delivery options. You also have the option to donate a slice or entire pie if interested in adding those options to your order. ianspizza.com

  1. Food Fight Restaurant Group

How many of your favorite local Madison restaurants are part of the Food Fight Restaurant Group? For our staff…too many to count. With over 20 restaurants in the Madison area they have not only been a part of our team lunches and birthday celebrations but also part of our gatherings outside of work. We have all been guilty of partaking in a weekend breakfast, bottomless mimosa, poke, smothered burrito or a slice of Hubbard pie in our free time. Maybe not all in the same weekend but hey…don’t judge us if they were. JThey have a pulse on the culinary scene that we, as Madison residents, are lucky to have.

Besides offering an amazing culinary dining experience at their restaurants, we love their commitment to giving back to Madison. We often see their partnerships in the community and once again this situation is no different. They are currently offering breakfast and lunch care packages to those working the frontlines of COVID-19 and we are proud to donate money to help this cause.

If you want to learn more about what they are doing, order a curbside carry-out or gift a loved one a gift card, check out their website. foodfightinc.com

  1. Liliana’s Restaurant

It’s hard to live in Madison and not have heard of Chef Dave. He is an icon in the Madison community not only for being one of the most talented chefs in this culinary rich city but by also having one of the biggest hearts around. He is philanthropic to his core and is truly a gift to us all in this city.

This restaurant is one of three for Chef Dave. It also has a special place for staff members who have celebrated monumental life events such as engagements, anniversaries and maybe a stress free dinner to rehash their wedding day with Chef Dave. He always treats you extra special when you come to celebrate these important milestones in your life making you want to return again each and every time you have something special to celebrate.

When we saw that he was offering the option to buy soup for those in the community who may need food, we knew we wanted to get involved. When Chef Dave takes on a cause that is important to him and our community, it takes on a life of its own and you can’t help but also want to get involved and help however you can.

Liliana’s is offering a Pay It Forward Soup campaign where you have the option to buy soup for those who cannot afford to do so. They are also offering a carryout curbside menu and the soup campaign can be added on to your order. You can also order for delivery through EatStreet. lilianasrestaurant.com

  1. Little John’s

This is another incredible creation of Chef Dave. This restaurant was created utilizing a pay-what-you-can concept where they take excess food from grocery partners to create affordable healthy meals to serve communities in need and employ and train veterans to help them accomplish this goal.

Little John’s is teaming up with Reach Dane to deliver over 3800 meals a week to at risk children and their families. They need donations to keep the program up and running each week. We are proud to help donate to this wonderful cause.
