TikTok Recipes
March 2022
If you haven’t downloaded the mobile app, TikTok, then you are saving yourself a lot of time. This app consists of short videos made by users usually ranging from 15 seconds to 3 whole minutes. The constant entertainment thoroughly eliminates your concept of time which then turns into hours upon hours of scrolling. I myself usually open TikTok after work to decompress or for a few minutes before bed. While I swipe up to skip the pranks, stunts, and tricks, I watch and enjoy the hypothetical role-playing teacher, the family holiday games, the musically talented covers, and of course the food recipe videos.
As TikTok uses an algorithm that calculates which videos you watch and which videos you skip, you’ll slowly discover more and more of the videos you prefer and less of the videos you dislike.
As I scrolled through my “For You” page in bed one night, I saw a video of a spaghetti tutorial with an unusual ingredient: Nerds Candy. While I immediately wondered if that was a good idea, I quickly recognized I am not someone who would put candy in a traditional Italian dish. Therefore, to save you non-TikTok-ers some time, I have put together a quick Blog full of my personal favorite TikTok recipes.
Green Goddess Salad
This one’s for the veegaanss!! It’s also for all of you who want to eat healthy without neglecting your taste buds. The best part about this recipe, is you can use whatever veggies you have left in your fridge, it’s completely customizable! There’s an endless possibility to use this salad! You can throw it on the side, use it as a dip, or even use it on tacos or sandwiches. I love a good veggie in disguise.
Emily’s Salmon bowl
This TikToker made it big after this recipe came out. Watching Emily Mariko make this dish is not only satisfying to your ears but also a fantastic way to use that leftover salmon and rice. (I couldn’t wait to have leftovers- I made salmon and rice specifically for this recipe!) You’ll especially love this recipe if you like a little extra mayonnaise or sriracha in your sushi, all the ingredients are to your taste.
Pancake Cereal
This is completely not realistic for a meal but just look at them. How fun are these little pancakes? One TikToker made these tiny cakes for their chickens. I can’t tell if I enjoyed the chickens’ reactions or the recipe more. Although this is technically a cereal, you can also use these bite sized breakfasts in other ways, like as a parfait topping or even… wait for it… on top of a big pancake. Pancake-ception?!
Baked Feta Pasta
This is the easiest way to make a flavor explosion in your mouth. Especially when you add in red pepper flakes or other desired spices. This is the recipe you make when you’ve had a long day and want dinner to make itself. It truly is a one-pan masterpiece. Not to mention, this one doesn’t have candy in it. I mean, unless you want it to. I guess.
TikTok Ramen
I honestly crave this recipe on the daily. The endless possibilities of customizations makes it even better, I can’t say I’ve had the same ramen twice. This recipe is a great way to add nutrition and a little pizzazz to your buck (well 99 cents). Don’t worry, for those of you who don’t know where to start cutting ginger, start with a spoon! Many of these ingredients have great health benefits, but at the end of the day, they taste amazing together. That’s what it’s all about.
Gigi Hadid’s Vodka Pasta
If you know Gigi Hadid, vodka, or pasta, this is the dish for you! Now, we’re not promising that you’ll end up on the cover of Harper’s Bazaar if you make this dish, but it will definitely light up your night like a runway. Now when I see pasta shells my mind goes immediately to Velveeta (that’s a conversation for another time) so I always use penne, other than that, it’s flawless, it’s glorious, it’s like Linda Evangelista, everything about it is perfect.
